I was sorry to miss the reunion. I hope it was great. We've been busy here working on our house. We will be pouring a new porch and front sidewalk soon. My boys are growing up way too fast. I love watching them laugh at each other and wrestle. Chad finished his master's degree this summer (yahoo!) and then started another school year of teaching almost immediately; I hear that teachers get the summer off...hasn't happened for us yet! =) We are healthy and happy... I hope that everyone else is the same. I love seeing pictures of you all and your little ones.

-JennyLynn (Peterson) Harris

Russell and April Johnson

Hello Friends!

This is Russell and April (Elggren) Johnson. We've been watching everyone else post their stories, and now it's our turn...

The last ten years (wow...has it been that long?) have been great. Here are the highlights: after graduation, we both went to the U of U to study. Russ left after the first year to serve a mission in Frankfurt, Germany. A year a half later, I left to serve a mission in La Paz, Bolivia. Needless to say, Russ and I didn't see each other for three years, but he never stopped writing. When I stepped off the plane in Salt Lake at the end of my mission, he was standing right behind my family waiting for me. He was so cute it took three days for me to stop blushing...A few months later we were dating and a year later we were married.

Since that time, we've both finished our undergrad degrees at the U (speech path for me and bio-engineering for Russ). I guess that wasn't enough school for us because we both went back. I finished the U's MBA program two years ago and Russ continues working on a PhD in bio-engineering. Currently I am working at ATK (formerly Thiokol). I prepare government proposals (yeah, I know that doesn't sound exciting), but the fun part is we sell rocket motors (like the ones that put the space shuttle into orbit).

The greatest blessing in our lives happen last December when we had Lauren. She's five months old now, and there's never a dull moment around here. It's amazing the perspective kids give you on life...

We hope everyone is doing well. We'd love to hear how everyone else is doing, so keep those posts coming.

We had a great summer. We purchased a National Parks Pass and went crazy visiting National Parks this summer. To make it worth the cost, you need to visit a couple National Parks within a year. We started visiting the parks and couldn't stop! We loved it!

Below are some highlights from the parks we visited. Consider it a very short sideshow. (Be thankful you didn't have to sit through the whole show of pictures like I made the extended family sit through.)

Autumn at the Grand Canyon

Zion National Park

Yosemite
(Hopefully, my head will never be as bare as Half Dome)

Yellowstone

Sequoia National Park
(There's a bear in the meadow to the right of Autumn's hand)

Big Trees

I thought it was time to give a little update on how the Wheatley's are doing. It has been great to read all of your updates and find out what everyone has been up to since high school. Here is what has happened to me since graduating in '98...

I followed Green family tradition and headed up to the U of U for my undergrad with the vague intention of studying music and then continuing on to med school. After a semester or two, I changed my major to Exercise and Sport Science, but continued with the pre-med classes until I met chemistry. After two semesters of chem and lab classes, I reevaluated my goals and decided not to continue on the road to medicine. During my first two years at the U I was very involved with the Theta chapter of the Lambda Delta Sigma sorority at the institute and really enjoyed that.

On Labor Day of 2000, I met Shane Westra on a hike/unofficial singles' ward activity to Red Pine Lake. We started dating shortly thereafter and got married the following May in the Salt Lake Temple. I graduated from the U in 2002 and then certified to teach aerobics. I've been able to teach for Salt Lake County and also up at the U. It was fun to be on the other side of the roll sheet!

Shane and I bought a home in Sandy (not far from the old stomping grounds) in 2003. Our daughter, Adria, was born in November of 2004 (making her 19 months old right now) and we are expecting another daughter at the end of August. I am a stay home mommy and teach aerobics on the side (when I'm not pregnant). Shane is a Project Manager at a software development company in Midvale and is finishing up his MBA through BYU's executive program. That has been an educational marathon for all of us and we will be so glad when he is finished at the end of the month.

I'm sorry to say I don't have a family picture available for posting with this...I've been meaning to post for a few months and have been waiting on the picture (another long story). Thanks for creating this blog Tom. It is great hearing about all of you. I would love to hear more about more friends. My husband Ken Maxwell and I live in Sandy (Hillcrest territory) with our two beautiful daughters, April (age 3) and Alysha (age 20 months). We've been married for 6 and a half years. Ken is president of a manufacturing company in Salt Lake and I stay-at-home with our girls and teach piano lessons from home. After graduating from BYU I taught first grade for a couple of years at Columbia Elementary in West Jordan and I loved it but now I'm a mom and I love being at home with my girls more than anything. Recently Ken and I went to Hawaii with Ken's family. It was hard to leave our girls behind but wonderful to travel and to be able to enjoy Hawaii.
Good to hear from all of you! Congrats on your beautiful families and happy experiences!
Angela

Aubrey Sorensen says HI!

Hey guys. It's good to see everyone is doing well. This picture is of me and my girls on a cruise we just took. It looks like I'm the last single one out of the whole group. GO ME!! The last 8? years since highschool have been adventurous. After graduation I went straight to Utah State for a couple of years, then down to SLC where I was ALMOST bit by the marraige bug in 2001. in Jan 2004 I headed out to San Jose CA where I live now. I am LOVING San Jose and the entire bay area. I am the activities committee co-chair in my ward. Someone upstairs knew i had zero party planning skills and decided it was time for me to learn! The ward out here is great. There many people my age and older who are still single so I don't feel like nearly as much of an old maid as I did out in Utah. I am an office manager at a small manufacturing company where I do everything from Accounts payable and recievable to HR and payroll. I work for a member who is really easy going on me and basically lets me run his company. Good times! I am going back to school in January and I hope to get me a degree in philosophy. It's so great to see what everyone is up to. What a great idea Thomas!

I miss you guys!

Aubrey

Autumn Time

I've been up in Seattle working on a project, and a friend took me on the grand tour of the area. It's good to see what is happening to all of you wonderful people that I used to know and talk to on a regular basis!

Well, here's a little synopis of my last few years--for the interested reader. After graduating from Alta in '97, I went to BYU for a year. Then I left on a mission for Italy, Catania in November of '98. When I got home, I returned to BYU, in fact rooming with Dave Zimmerman. Well Dave was always the talented musician and could serenade the ladies with songs that he had written himself. So I was sure that he would be married off in no time, but the ladies he dated always seemed to know that really he needed to wait for me to find the right one, too. Unfortunately for Dave this didn't happen for another 3 1/2 years. But don't think that I was a slacker. See my major was Mechanical Engineering, however I didn't let those little things like all-nighters in the computer lab (where there is a 24-hour analog-hands-and-all clock, no kidding), intense homework assignments, and no time to interact with anything except my calculator interfere with my social life. I decided to let work do that. So for a little more than one of those years I consistently worked every Friday and Saturday night as a server at Diamond Lil's Steakhouse.

Well I knew that had to be overcome. So decided that I would have to learn some serious dance moves to make up for all the other difficulties. Actually really. I got very heavily involved in the ballroom dance program that's quite large at the Y. Of course this did contribute to my insane desire to rack up as many credits per semester as possible. But hey, it was all for a good cause--meeting girls (well really it was because I like ballroom so much, but I would have to say that the ladies were definitely a part of that). So I was on the top touring company for 3 years. Our first year tour was cancelled by the First Presidency (all BYU tours were that year) because of the outbreaks of SARS and the Iraq war. But the next two years I got to go to England, France, Belgium, Spain, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, Tahiti, and various places in the US. So that was a pretty neat experience. And wouldn't you know it, I was TAing this dance class and there was this spunky, cute, red-head who was pretty good and pretty cute. So I kept an eye on her, and when she moved up to a higher level class... Baam! I got rejected!

It wasn't anything harsh, but man I just wasn't getting the signals. I was to the point where I was ready to give up. I actually did put on my Chicago, greatest hits--the ultimate breakup cd, and I tried to give it some time. 'Course it didn't work and I couldn't help but keep on chasing her until she realized what she'd be missing and decided that she wanted me. At which point I decided that I'd changed my mind. Just kidding. We spent another few months courting then being engaged, and we were married on August 3rd 2004. So we actually just passed our one year mark a few weeks ago. Her name is Bethany (formerly Judd). She grew up on the church ranch out in Florida, close to Orlando. She likes soccer, chasing alligators, and ballroom dancing. She also loves little kids (we hope to have one oursleves before too long!).

So I got around to finishing my undergraduate degree this last April 2005. It took me a couple extra years, but I always just say that I was waiting till I found my wife. But in addition to my Mechanical Engineering classes, I enjoyed music (mostly jazz, symphonic trombone), Italian, ballroom dance classes and company, and of course a random class or two thrown in for fun--like beginning guitar and weight training (didn't help). All in all I graduated with 261.1 credit hours, two minors, a cool diploma, a great wife, and no job. Well no real job. At least not yet.

I've been working at an Italian Restaurant in Provo for the last few years to put me, then us, through school. So I've stayed on there over the summer while looking for a local engineering job to earn some money and experience. If this recent promising job interview that I had pans out, then I will be working in Springville for a company called Flowserve. Bethany has one year left to graduate in Ballroom Dance, after which I may look for different work or possibly to continue on in school with a master's degree.

I think that's pretty much it.

James Davis
james.k.davis@gmail.com

Family Photo- JennyLynn, Chad, and Anderson Harris

Here is a recent family photo (June 2005). It's certainly strange to me to see everyone with kids (I don't know why it's still strange, I guess because we were all teenagers together). Anyway, you guys all look like you're doing well and I am glad.

Anyway, I am living in Sandy (right near Jordan High School) with my husband and pug, Daja. No kids yet. We just bought a house here and are settling in nicely. I have been married for 6 and a half years and I am in a band with my husband and 3 other friends ( The Child Who Was A Keyhole and more music at Eden's Watchtower Records). I play bass and I love it a ton. We just went on our first sort of tour (use the term loosely, because it was only 4 dates in California) in May. It was fun.

My husband (Jonathan) is a computer programmer and I am a freelance Graphic Designer. I am also getting very interested in photography and jewelry design/making.

Here we are visiting San Francisco:

Anyway, good luck to everyone! Most of you I haven't seen or heard from since our Junior year... I can't believe how much has happened such a short time.

For me, things have been pretty uneventful. After graduation, I did electrical work for two years before leaving for a mission to Zurich, Switzerland. I got home after a frightening week-long 9/11 delay, got a job, and started attending the U. Work has been great - I handle the customer support and administrative/other duties for a BioChemistry group close to the U. Dilbert has become my mentor.

As for school: After changing majors voluntarily 3 times, and involuntarily a fourth (they cancelled the Information Systems major just last semester), I have settled on Accounting, and plan to be done before the Millenium. Hopefully the conglomeration of other courses will combine mercifully into some sort of minor to justify the many years of undergraduate schooling. (Anyone remember "Tommy Boy?" "Lots of people go to school for 7 years." "Yeah - they're called doctors!")

My wife Rachel and I met at my first mission reunion, and were married shortly thereafter. Our daughter, Madilynn, is 15 months old, and has single-handedly receded my hairline over half an inch. But we still love her! :D Luckily she has her mom's looks - she's an absolute doll. In my unbiased opinion. Anyway, I apologize if I've bored anyone with my lengthy update.

Katie Armstrong

Hi everyone! Like Wendy, I have lost contact with many, but luckily I've had a few persistant friends that keep in touch. It's funny how you can still feel comfortable with some friends, even after not talking for a couple years. I guess that's how you know they're true friends.

Let me just catch you up quickly with my life after high school (can't believe it's been 8 years now!). I first went to school at Smith College in MA, but then that didn't work out, so I went home and worked for a while. Then attended the U for a semester but didn't like it, so I dropped out again and worked for an ad agency for a year until I went on a mission to Montana. When I got back, Logan didn't seem like such a small town anymore, and I decided it was the place for me to be. I've been up here ever since. Well, other than a much too short semester abroad in Austria. I just graduated in American Studies, with an emphasis in art and literature. Okay, technically, I haven't graduated yet. I will at the end of the summer. I found out late in my career that I really enjoy folklore, so I decided to take some folklore workshops this summer. Anyway, in August (after my sister's wedding), I will be moving to West Lafayette, IN to start graduate work at Purdue University. I will be working on a doctorate in American Studies. I'm looking forward to a change of scene, but sad to leave friends and family.

Thanks for sharing all of your adventures. It's good to see what everyone is up to. Ciao!

Lance & Brooke Black

This is so great to get updates on everyone!
Lance and I are doing wonderfully... and have quickly expanded our lineage. Our oldest daughter, Sydney, is 22 months. Our second daughter, Carys (prn. like "Paris") is now three months old. Lance is totally outnumbered here. :0) We built a house out in Herriman about a year and a half ago and LOVE it way out here! It's a great place to raise a family and we don't have any plans to go anywhere anytime soon. We're currently getting the last of our yard finished before summer is in full-swing - and we're pooped!
Lance graduated from the U last December in Business/Conflict Managment with minors in History and Spanish. He's currently the General Manager of Tony Roma's in Sandy (drop-in for some ribs), though he has been exploring and interviewing with various other companies. He spends any free time he *may* have writing music and performing at local bars, pubs, and cafes. But most of the time he's home wrestling with Sydney, coochie-coochie-cooing at Carys, playing his guitar and singing.
I graduated from the U 2002 in Health Sciences and started working for IHC soon after. As soon as Syd was born, it was ta-ta to working and I'm now a stay-at-home-mom... though I do "work" on-call in the ER at Cottonwood Hospital, so it's flexible and I usually work night shifts so Lance can be home with the girls while they're snoozin'.
So, that's us in a nutshell right now. We keep very busy with the kids and house and work and play, as you all understand, I'm sure. Hope you are all still doing well - can't wait for more updates!!!

JennyLynn, Chad, and Anderson Harris

Hey Everybody! What a great idea this is! Here is an update on what's going on with us: Chad, Anderson, and I have settled in Roseburg, Oregon (after a detour through Florida). We love it here and plan to stay. I spent 3 years teaching Biology, Physics, and General Science; now that I am a mom, I am staying home... and loving it. Anderson is almost 10 months old and is crawling all over the place. He has a great sense of humor and keeps us laughing. Chad is teaching Spanish at a nearby high school. We are busy working on our "fixer-upper" house, and it is looking great. Oregon is a beautiful place for a summer vacation (hint, hint) and we would love to see you!

Derek and Wendy Tueller

Hi Friends!

Most of you will remember me as Wendy Van Wagenen. I have unfortunately but very successfully lost contact with everyone from Alta. So here are some of the highlights of my life thus far.

After high school I attended a plethora of colleges and universities including Scottsdale Culinary Institute where I graduated in 2000 and moved to Massachusetts where I was a chef of a beautiful little restaurant on Martha’s Vineyard.

I gave up my chef coat last year and turned to the world of finance. I am currently working for the brokerage firm Morgan Stanley in San Jose, CA.

I have been living here with the cutest guy in the world, my husband Cute Derek for the past 9 months. I met him at a singles ward in Arizona (so cliché). We chased each other through five years, four states and three continents, giving up this past August. We were married in the Salt Lake Temple. And are so happy! Derek works for Marriott as a manager and trainer. We Love the Bay Area and plan to be here for the next couple of years anyway.

I hope you are all doing great! Looking through your posts has brought back some very fond memories of each of you!

I'll update with pictures at some point (when I'm not working)

Take care!
Wendy

Steve, Brynn and Eve Candell

Hello all.
Here we are in Los Angeles. Before we came here I was a dental hygenist and Steve was going to the U of U and working at Waterford helping create and animate educational software. Here's the mint ice cream scoop on us.

Annie:
Studying elementary ed. She already got 2 degrees (communication and psychology) that she doesn't like to brag about (BUT I DO). She will be student teaching Spring 2006 and and graduating in the same semester. She likes to excersise, meet new people, play outside, and play outside, oh and make crafty things for when she will be a teacher. She's doing great!

Matt:
Graduating with his undergrad (FINALLY) in Information systems Spring 2005. Currently looking for a job. I have a hobby of playing the bass, still. I play with Orquesta Latino [http://www.latinoband.com], ele [http://utahweddings.com/ele/], and some jazz groups (that don't have sites). I also have been making some websites, it's fun stuff. Here are some sites: About us [http://www.claytonstreet.com], A forum for friends and family (That you're all welcome and encouraged to post anything on) [http://forum.claytonstreet.com/index.php], and I'll think of some others...

That's us in a nutshell. After my mission to Chile, I went to SLCC for a couple of semesters, then moved up to Rexburg. I met my wife Natasha in the computer lab (of all places), and our lives have been so wonderful together. We graduated in the first class of BYU-Idaho (Natasha received her degree in Office Systems Management), then moved to Wyoming for my (Cameron) accounting internship. After Wyoming, I attended BYU while working as a technical writer intern for NuSkin in Provo and teaching the gospel in Spanish at the MTC. While at BYU, I saw Tom Wheatley several times, and I have seen more or less all of you sometime in between.

After graduating from BYU (Sep '04) in Business Management (Finance emphasis), we were recruited to the Bay Area, California. My office is directly across the San Francisco Bay (East) on the island of Alameda. I work as an analyst for West Coast Novelty, and I love my job (I work with four BYU grads). We have two children, Kaehl and Braedon. Kaehl will be two in June, Braedon just turned six months old.

We haven't been to far-off lands or traveled across continents, but sometimes that is how it feels! We have moved 8 times since we were married in December of 2001, visited 10 states, and frequented at least five temples outside of Utah. Time sure does fly!

We are busy as ever, but if any of you are in the Bay Area, we would love to show you around.

Cam's Fam

Dave Zimmerman in Cairo Egypt

Dave and Kirsten Zimmerman

So here is a quick update of my current life. Last summer I spent two weeks in Egypt and had an incredible experience out there (let me know if you would like to see any more pictures).
In August 2004 I got married to the most incredible woman, Kirsten Lucas. My wife Kirsten is a Biology Composite Teaching Major from BYU and will finish up this Fall down at SUU. She is a returned missionary from the Baltics and loves the outdoors.
I graduated last December with a Bachelor in Music in Media Music (Percussion emphasis). We are going to move to St. George. I will be doing sound work for Tuacahn theatre. If anyone visits this summer through October, come say hi. I work every show. Meanwhile, I have been recording bands and doing lots of compositions with my home project studio as well as teaching many drum students through Crescent School of Music in American Fork and Sandy. My goals are to become a sound designer for video games which includes creating sound and music. Sound and Music for video games has really developed over the past few years which makes this career choice exciting for me. Life is great for the both of us.

Kirsten and I on our wedding day

Brian and Kerstin Jones family

We recently moved to Cottonwood Heights (Brighton territory!) and are thoroughly enjoying life. As we indicated to Thomas earlier, we are up to our ears in small children. Our twins, Matthew and Jayne, turned three in January. Our youngest, Abbey, turns two the end of May. Needless to say, we spend lots of time playing Hi Ho Cherry-O, applying endless supplies of Blues Clues bandaids, and pushing the kids on the swingset. We are just happy that nearly every one is out of diapers after 3+ years. :)
Brian graduated in finance from the University of Utah May 2003. He works for a company called Savage companies in their accounting department. He really loves his job, even if it is causing him to lose his hair at a VERY fast rate. Although he won't admit it, he is looking forward to going back to school for his Masters Degree in the next year or two. Kerstin spends her days with the kids and really enjoys the ups and downs of being a mom. She is in the process of putting together a Joy School group for the twins for next fall and would be happy to have any of you with three to five year-olds join up.
We are excited to hear how all of you are doing.

David and Misty McKenna

Well, where do I start. I graduated from the U a little over a year ago with a degree in Computer Science.
